Some patients prefer to have a little help to make their appointments even more comfortable. At our office, we offer very mild forms of sedation such as nitrous oxide gas as well as stronger oral sedatives that offer a more potent feeling of relaxation during the procedure. You are still awake, but your body and mind have an easier time letting go. It can be the perfect extra boost, especially for longer appointments or extensive surgery. However, we are happy to provide sedatives even for appointments as routine as a cleaning if you would find it helpful. Many of our patients who have had particularly traumatic experiences at other dental offices in the past find such sedatives a helpful tool to help them to ease back into receiving regular care again.
