Teeth are made to last your entire life. Along with bone, they are the hardest organ in your body. But they are not invincible. Sometimes a tooth breaks in a way that it cannot be repaired. Sometimes a tooth hurts and you may, for a variety of reasons, choose not to have a root canal. In these cases, having a tooth extracted may be required.
An extraction, like a root canal, has a lot of misconceptions attached to it. Extractions do not have to hurt. There are some sensations you feel like pressure or the movement of the tooth, but none of this should hurt. If you require more numbing medicine, we stop immediately and give you more. No patient of ours has to tough it out. An extraction shouldn’t hurt, and we take great care to make sure that none of ours do.
